About Smiles
Smiles Beach Hotel a 8,200 sqm private property is located on the coastal fishing village of Nungwi, Zanzibar’s north western coastline. Both Nungwi and the hotel boast the island’s famous white sand and crystalline water offering the picture postcard setting. Since 2001 our family-run hotel warmly welcomes all to come and enjoy Zanzibar’s finest.
With our resort on the beach, all of our 22 rooms face the ocean and in addition our swimming pool which faces out to the sea and stands as an oasis sits beautifully to the side of our tropical gardens. All of our rooms offer either a balcony or patio area allowing you to relax and watch the ocean and admire the simply awe-inspiring sunsets.

Our Team welcomes you with genuine smiles, and offers a high quality low profile service to allow you to relax and unwind. Our Front Office Team will gladly assist in arranging any activities you may wish to take part on or around the island. The opportunities for diving, snorkelling, parasailing and other water sports are vast and we endeavour to provide you direction to the greatest and safest options. If water sports is not for you then wander down to our local aquarium and visit some of the largest turtles on the planet, Nungwi Village Tour, Buggy Tour Drive and many more. Also available are short safaris or a visit to our Conservation centre cheetah’s rock where you get the opportunity to interact directly-face to face, fur to skin to some of the most amazing animals.
Smiles Oceanfront Restaurant
Our Oceanfront restaurant uses the best ingredients Zanzibar has to offer. We use the Indian Ocean and constant sunshine to our advantage sourcing you the finest fresh ingredients daily. Serving well put together food with a touch of Swahili authenticity. We do not serve nor sell alcohol on this property.
We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and also an all day Beach snack menu allowing you to continue to laze in the sun whilst grabbing that quick bite to keep you going.
Breakfast we offer a simple but tasty continental style buffet with fresh fruits, toast and cereals also available. In addition to this twice a week we change to a swahili breakfast buffet giving our wonderful customers the opportunity to taste some traditional Swahili food that would be served daily morning in any home.

We aim to be able to adapt to all languages but Swahili and English are spoken fluently across the hotel.
